US Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Academy Opens in Berryville

The US Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Academy celebrates the grand opening of its Berryville facility Saturday Feb. 13. Grand Master Eung Gil Choi, an award-winning Tae Kwon Do champion, is opening the facility as part of his lifelong effort to teach mental toughness and raise money for cancer research. He opened his first academy in Leesburg in 1987. By 1994 he had additional facilities in Winchester and Great Falls, Va. The Berryville facility is a long-time dream of his to offer Tae Kwon Do to the growing community here. Grand Master Eung Gil ChoiGrand Master Eung Gil ChoiGrand Master Choi explained the teaching philosophy at his academies. “Tae signifies the foot. Kwon signifies the hand. And Do means a strong and right mind. So I teach Tae, Kwon, Do: Foot and hands and mind.” His teachings go deeper than the sport’s defensive moves and dramatic sparring. He instills respect for others, self-discipline, and confidence in his students so that they can not only defend themselves but develop a successful outlook that translates into achievement in all aspects of life.
