They appear to have staffed this place with novices to the industry…the servers seem to be “in training” and not at all confident in their tasks. There were only a few tables occupied when we got their around 5:15. We ordered some calamari appetizer, salads, and pizza. Should have been pretty easy to make that stuff…we waited in between each course for too long especially with under half of the tables occupied by 6pm….so the coordination between the wait staff and kitchen is lacking.
Yep…it seems this chain is from North Carolina, definitely not by way of Italy…the food was NOT ITALIAN. I do better Italian in my own kitchen. The pizza dough, best described as cooked, oily, bread…but in no way resembled Italian pizza dough. Now I’m picky about my Italian and especially about pizza having grown up making it, and having eaten at Pizzeria Regina in Boston and in Northern Italy…I mean not even CLOSE! So many better pizza places in this area that are at least close to Italian…but, NOT Travinia.

I’ll give it one more test…if they can’t cook lasagna…well no way I’ll go back unless the lasagna is delicious…as it looks the owners should consider changing the name to avoid false advertising.

A very pedestrian lunch took over two hours! It was entirely because the servers and the kitchen were so slow and disorganized that they couldn’t put out a complete table’s worth of meals. We were seated 10 minutes before any of the servers even visited our table. After that the kitchen ground the entire meal into intermittent waits for apps, entrees, and desserts. The whole meal was ruined because no one knew what they were doing.

They need a manager that can snap that place into line. The decor is charming and the food was alright but the horrible service was enough mark them off my list for good.
